Project 2012: Towards the Golden Jubilee of the founding Of The Royal Commonwealth Society, Malaysian Branch
Monday, 08 Mar. 2010
1. INTRODUCTION
Project 2012 is a two pronged approach to the Planning and Development of the Society. Founded on 24th May 1962, the Malaysian Branch has achieved numerous milestones in the evolution of the Society. It is a time for pride and joy and a committee has been set up to plan and implement programmes and activities leading up to this Golden Anniversary. The second prong is, in effect, a time for reflection and self-analysis; a time to re-evaluate our present status and propose ways forward to ensure the attractiveness and continued relevance of the Society. This will involve major adjustments to our programmes and facilities to meet the challenge of the dwindling knowledge of the Commonwealth amongst Malaysians especially the youth.

2. OBJECTIVES OF PROJECT 2012
The Project objectives are to:-
a) Propose and Implement Programmes and Activities leading to the Golden Anniversary Celebrations of the Royal Commonwealth Society, Malaysian Branch.
b) Propose and implement new directions in terms of policies, activities and facilities to attract more members especially from the younger generation.
c) Propose and implement fund-raising activities to finance programmes and improvements to existing facilities of the Society to attract new members.

3. FORMATION OF COMMITTEES
To achieve the objectives of the project several committees have been formed from amongst fellows of the Society. The Committees include:-
a) The Coordinating Committee
b) The Golden Anniversary Committee
c) The Programme and Activities Committee
d) The Facilities Committee
e) The Membership Drive Committee
f) The Taman Commonwealth Committee

The support of the fellows of the Society to assist in this, their project, has been highly encouraging.

4. CONCLUSION
Project 2012 is a very ambitious yet necessary project for which support is necessary from all quarters. As in its early years, the Society has received tremendous support from the Malaysian Government, The Rotary Club of Kuala Lumpur the High Commissioners and well wishers and we put on record our most grateful thanks to them all. It is our hope that as we go through this 2nd stage of our development, we can once again count on the support of the Malaysian Government, the Rotary Club of Kuala Lumpur, the High Commissions and well-wishers. Your assistance in moving this project forward and meeting the objectives of the Project 2012 is greatly appreciated.
